Around this time of year, with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season winding down and a new year about to begin, many of us take some time to pause and reflect on the year just past and the prospects of the wonderful new year that is about to begin. Amintro is no different. Our team works hard every day of the year to provide our members with valuable information on a variety of topics that you – our members – have told us are important to you. Whether it’s about finances, gardening, travel tips or tongue in cheek articles about cannabis, we’ve talked about it in 2019. That’s why today we thought we too would take the opportunity to pause and reflect, on the Top Ten Articles from 2019, articles that our members told us they enjoyed most!
Top Ten Features from 2019!
Topping the list at #1 was a blog highlighting the Top Ten reasons to make new friends. That makes sense to us, after all, we are a friend making App! The article talked about learning new things about yourself, getting a fresh start and gaining a new perspective from the new friends you meet. Click on the link to see why this was our number one ranked blog and why you should consider making a few new friends with Amintro!
Coming in at a close second was an article on the warning signs of loneliness in seniors. We wondered if perhaps this was because concerned family members are also using our site to learn how best to support an aging parent? Maybe our own members share those same concerns. This article points out that seniors who feel lonely are at a 59% greater risk of physical and mental decline. Read more here:
Next up is another blog about friendship, this one looking at the concept of Kenzoku. It’s a Japanese word that, when translated, means family but which also has a deeper meaning connected to our need for friendships. Find out more by clicking on the link below.
Our fourth entry on the top ten list is something we’ve probably all struggled with at one time or another – how to make small talk. Chances are we could all benefit from the tips offered in this entry, particularly if you’ve got a New Years Eve party to attend! This could be very timely advice!
Speaking of the New Year, you might be thinking about 2020 as the year you would like to make some changes and start living a healthier lifestyle. If that’s the case, this article on 6 Spring Health Tips for adults over 50 might be just what you’re looking for!
Perhaps the new year is also a time when you start thinking a little more seriously about what’s on your bucket list and when you are going to start “ticking off those boxes.” The term “bucket list” comes up frequently on the Amintro website and this article on bucket list ideas might provide you with some inspiration! It’s a great list.
If you want someone to travel with you on your bucket list adventures, our seventh ranked blog spends time examining the importance of face to face interactions with others. Social media is great (Amintro proves that) but interacting socially, with others and face to face is so much better. Read more here about why:
The eighth ranked blog is something we all fear as we age, that is – what might happen to us if we become increasingly frail. The potential for elder abuse increases with social isolation. Learn more about why and how to avoid social isolation and elder abuse as you read this blog.
Many people first come to Amintro because the thought of making new friends at 50+ can be pretty intimidating. It’s no longer as easy as walking in to the schoolyard at recess and striking up a conversation or commiserating with a colleague at work. How do you make new friends now that you’re a little older? Check out this ninth ranked article in our top ten list for tips on making new friends.
Finally, coming in at number ten is a topic we can probably all relate to. The Amintro team is looking forward to 2020 and we hope you are too. It always feels like a new year offers a fresh start, a “clean slate” if you will, on which we can write anything we want. What will you write as part of your 2020 story? Is it time to tick an item off your bucket list and travel adventures await? Is there a grandchild on the way? Maybe you’re thinking about going back to school or learning a new craft or maybe, you just want to take some time for lunch with a friend. No matter what 2020 looks like for you, Amintro can help you connect with others, make new friends and find someone (or 3 or 4 folks!) who share your interests, who are excited about making new friends and with whom you can share the adventure. Happy New Year!
