Looking to get out and be social? Want a fun activity to try? We’ve got you covered with our monthly activity article.

Each month we will highlight a different activity or event for grown-ups to get out and try. The idea is to get a group of people together to socialize, have fun, and try something new.

The months of September and October are filled with fall fairs and apple festivals, offering plenty of opportunities to get out in the community.

Between their markets, food trucks, shows and animals there are many reasons to attend. Go with a friend or get a group together and see what the vendors have to offer. Enjoy being outside, talking to the farmers, and supporting local artisans.

Attending as a guest isn’t the only option either. If you enjoy crafting, wood working, knitting, quilting, baking, and have many products on hand, see about having your own stand and selling some of your work. This is a great way to make some money, highlight your talent, and socialize with others.

You can also consider volunteering. There is always a need for extra help when it comes to the set-up and take down, or for giving out maps, parking, question booths, and so on.

It’s easy enough to find a fair near you with an internet search of “fall fairs near me”. These festivals should have their own website with dates, location, contact information, and how to get involved. Alternatively, pop by a local hardware store that sells farming supplies and they will likely be able to help.

fall fairKick off the season surrounded by fun and excitement. The crisp days, coloured leaves, hay bales, and country feel are a great pick-me-up; not to mention the socialization – with both people and animals.
